OK, we are all well aware of the additions for 2012 such as the rear-camera and the rear seat air vents, but are there things that were dropped? I know the dual zone climate control was dropped on some lines, but I seem to be missing a couple of things on my SEL Prem. The sales guy said it had automatic wipers - I don't see them mentioned in the manual and can't find a way to turn them on. Power tilt for the driver's seat cushion. The online Volkswagen features site says you can tilt the seat by pulling or pushing on the front of the horizontal bar. My bar is fixed at the front - only the rear (height) works. Were these items included on the 2012 models? Auto rain sensors. Match the speed of your wipers to the intensity of the rain. Boy in car rain sensors advert. The rain sensors automatically regulate the frequency of your windscreen wipers, according to how heavily it is raining. Our rain sensors mean you won't have to keep switching your wipers on and off, or adjusting. RWISEM wrote: 2. Power tilt for the driver's seat cushion. I have test driven a 2012 SE and a 2013 SEL, and this is my single concern that holds me back from a new Passat. I can't get the front of the seat cushion to the height that I need for my long legs to have any support. The whole seat moves up or down when you adjust the rear, but the seat stays relatively flat as it raises / lowers. Is this how all the Passat seats are designed? Thanks for any replies. How to activate auto wipers on a VW Passat 2012+ This DIY shows how to activate the automatic wiper function (rain sensing wiper) on a 2012+ Volkswagen Passat using VCDS Introduction The rear view mirror is mounted to a light-rain sensor on the windshield that looks outside. The sensor controls the auto headlights and automatic wiper function aka rain sensing wipers. For unknown reasons, auto wipers is disabled from the factory. Enabling the sensor allows. If you decide you don't like either of these functions they can be turned off. For 2013, the rain sensor was removed from the SE. There is a black plastic blank-off plate where the rain sensor was. The rain sensor was removed from all 2014. If you wish to retrofit the rain sensor, see the mk5-mk6 rain sensor article:. Your current windshield will accept the rain sensor since the mount is already there - it's just filled with a plastic blank instead of the sensor. You only have to add the sensor, run the wiring for the sensor, and change the coding to activate the sensor. The off, steady, and fast wiper positions are still the same but the intermittent position becomes auto. Adjusting the intermittent wiper speed dial now adjusts the auto wiper sensitivity. Below is a demo of the function. Streaks, tar, grease, or rain-x may make the rain sensor a little nutty since it could cause the sensor to see a reflection. The rain sensor is a little camera which shines infrared light out. If it sees a reflection it interprets this as water. Parts 1 Procedure to activate auto wipers on VW Passat TDI Plug in your VCDS cable and look for the green LED. Turn the car on. The engine can be off. Select the control modules. Select 09-Cent. You are now in the central electric module. Click Coding -07. Click the dropbox and go to 'RLS' rain light sensor. Then click 'Long Coding Helper'. WARNING: do not copy the exact code shown here. It's only for this car in a specific configuration. Different modules, options, and configurations will change the long coding. VCDS will input the right code for your car as you click the checkboxes. Check the box for rain closing active if you want that feature (see 1000q: rain closing windows for more details). Uncheck the box for rain sensor inactive. It should look like this or however you want it. While you're here, you can also adjust the light threshold for the light sensor earlier. Close the window and the new coding will be in the box. Click 'Do it!' Click 'Close Controller, Go Back.' The function is now active. If you decide to deactivate this feature, it's the reverse of activation.
